We offer the full range of DAN training courses. We can teach and guide you through the DFR (Diver First Responder) or alternatively you can select anyone of the four separate modules listed below -

  • O2 Provider,
  • Advanced O2 Provider,
  • AED - Automatic External Defibrillator
  • HMLI - Hazardous Marine Life Injuries

Each one of these is a course in its own right, and therefore they can be completed in 3-4 hours each.

On the oxygen provider course you will be trained in oxygen first aid procedures that should enable you to assist an injured or ill diver until medical aid is accessed. Topics include: basic anatomy & physiology, recognition & management of a dive accident, benefits of oxygen provision, hazards & precautions, oxygen equipment and the use of a DAN Oxygen Unit.

Each of the courses are very practical and involve a lot of practice with the various pieces of equipment. On the O2 course you get to use a variety of different masks and valves to deliver oxygen. On the advanced O2 you get to use the bag valve mask (BVM) and the manually triggered valve (MTV) - both of which are designed to effectively provide oxygen to a non breathing diver. On the AED course we get to play with the AED machine and on the HMLI we learn how to treat nasty bites and stings

At the end of these courses participants will be familiar with the signs and symptoms of major diving injuries, including near drowning and decompression illnesses (arterial gas embolism and decompression sickness

Course participants will be able demonstrate proper deployment, assembly, disassembly and use of all components of the DAN Oxygen Unit. This includes use of the demand inhalator valve/mask,
